Hi
I'm starting with the Paterson district. Last week we had a meeting and were told that we would be paid 1/2 salary in September if we had not yet received our C.E. for special ed. They stated that sometimes it has taken previous cohorts months to receive the paper work from Trenton.
Have Newark or Jersey City said anything like this?
Those of you with your Special Ed C.E. how long did it take to receive it from Trenton? ( my regular ed C.E took 4 months)
Thanks,
Jayne

Wow, I am surprised by that!! I'm the Newark cohort and the head of the school district told us that we would be getting a full salary with full benefits starting at the beginning of September. He didn't mention anything about a stipulation with the spec ed CE. That's scary actually. Maybe because you're with the NJCUE program they can hurry the process along for you.

I am also surprised to hear that as well. I don't think you can get your CE in Special Ed until you finish at least 6 credits in Special Education. Now we will be finished in August which means it might be the beginning of next year before we get our certificates. I hope our applications can be expedited since we are in this program.

Hi all,
I think that our special ed CE's are going to be expedited by NJCUE. I don't know if anyone remembers, but at the dinner, Marily Davis said that all of our applications would be submitted together and that she was working with some one at the Department of Education to expedite the process.

Good morning, Yes. Ms. Davis did tell us that. However, NJCUE teachers from last year's cohort in some of my classes have said that they were told the same thing and wound up applying themselves. A member of my cohort called her county doe and was told it was faster to apply on-line. My cohort has just sent an e-mail to Ms. Davis asking for her recommendation. I will post her reply to the forum when it is received.
It is very frustrating to hear one thing from the program (that we'll be starting at full salary) and then another thing from the hiring district. Lorraine
