Hi Megan and Rachel, I received my assignment on Friday. I will be at Belmont Runyon School. I agree Megan, now it seems real. I'm hoping I get 4th or 5th grade.

Greetings All:
You are all "awesome," truly one of the most thoughtful, mindful Cohorts to date. Be patience NPS offers of employment are coming. In fact, you should know that NPS is ahead of their norm for hiring in NJCUE! I can actually sleep nights!

I don't mean to press the panic button, but I went to sign my contract today, but couldn't because I didn't have the certification with the special education endorsement. The person I was dealing with told me that until they had a copy of this, I wouldn't be able to have a contract (i.e. be salaried and have benefits). I was told by Newark Human Resources that I may be eligible to be a sub for the class until I receive the certification, which would take about 6 months. Anyone else hear this?

Wow, this is not good news at all. I am panicked now, to be honest! If this is what happened to you, then it would definitely apply to the rest of us. I will see if anyone else responds though.

By the way, I spoke with Lisa today and she said the same thing as Megan. That she cannot sign her contract because she does not have the Special Ed CE. I was thinking though, if we don't get that in time, we should all have our CE's in General Ed so we could always work at a General Ed teacher, right?

Hello All, I called Human Resources a little while ago and no we can not sign a contract until we have the certification. I guess this is what Paterson was talking about. I am like Rachel, I am already panicking. I have 2 kids, so benefits are very important. Rachel, I think you brought up a good point. We should be able to work in General Ed until we receive our Special Ed CE. I just hope something can be done before September.

Hello Everyone, I spoke to Luz Vargas. The phone number is 973 733-7379. She was the one that told me that I could not sign a contract until I had the Special Ed CE but I could substitute for 6 months until the CE came through. I am very disappointed to say the least. I wish we would have taken the classes a little earlier then maybe we would have had time to get the CE before September rolls around.
